THE GLARE OF THE TRASPARENZE SHINES ON HOMO FABER 2026
Vhernier is proud to take part in Homo Faber 2026, the international exhibition celebrating the finest expressions of contemporary craftsmanship.
Curated by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, the biennial event takes place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice from 1 to 30 September.
With the title ‘An Island of Light’, this year’s edition of Homo Faber explores the profound connection between light, materials, and artisanship under the artistic direction of Es Davlin.
A relationship that Vhernier has been exploring since its origins through its creations, and particularly through one technique that has become a signature of the Maison: the Trasparenze.
Brilliant example of this peculiar artisan process are Vhernier animal brooches, featured in the ‘An Infinite Birdsong’ room, a tribute to the wonder and beauty of birds and insects.
THE TRASPARENZE
A signature expression of Vhernier craftsmanship, the Trasparenze technique transforms color into depth and light into material, enhancing the sculptural aesthetic of each creation.
Rock crystal, chosen for its exceptional purity and transparency, is hand-cut by the most skilled artisans to follow the forms of each design, and polished into a flawless dome.
Acting as a lens, it reveals and magnifies the gemstones beneath. Mother-of-pearl, green jade, black jade and lapis lazuli are brought to life through a game of light and color, showing their infinite reflections.
INSPIRED BY THE WONDERS OF NATURE
Charming works of art, Vhernier’s animal brooches originate from the wonders of nature, reinvented in the form of jewels.
They are an expression of the Maison’s whimsical spirit, adding a touch of playfulness to its sculptural identity.
Each piece is unique, a real sculpture capturing the essence of the animal it represents.
The Bruco (caterpillar), available in a variety of captivating shades, rolls with gentle and harmonious movements, the colourful Tucano (tucan) stands slender and vibrant, the Pinguino (penguin), with its deep black top and iridescent belly is utterly expressive.
